CNDH presents 4 Thematic Atlases of Human Rights.

Will be the platform for the Human Rights Observatory.

The National Ombudsperson, Rosario Piedra Ibarra, presented 4 thematic atlases that will be the platform for the National Human Rights Observatory. This instrument is a mechanism for vigilance, prevention and action, and at the same time it will be able to support proposals for modifications in legislative and regulatory provisions or in administrative practices and the exercise of public spending that will result in a better protection of human rights. Accompanied by the General Director of Planning and Analysis of the CNDH, Laura Mendoza Molina, and the General Director of Sociodemographic Statistics of INEGI, Edgar Vielma Orozco, she explained that the Observatory will be made up of 25 large modules that seek to highlight the main human rights violations of groups in vulnerable situations.

To date, the CNDH has updated 4 Atlas, whose main objective is to geo-reference specific problems through easily accessible tools, with a navigation that allows anyone to extract relevant information, indicators and variables with different timeframes and even data at state and municipal level in some cases, said the president of the CNDH. The Atlas of equality and human rights allows to follow up on the main indicators and variables, referring to the challenges and advances in terms of equality between women and men in the country; it is divided into 8 dimensions: demographic, economic, violence, socio-cultural, political, educational, spatial and health. It has a total of 42 indicators and 49 variables broken down by sex with a time frame from 2006 to 2020.

The Atlas of the rights of persons with disabilities presents information on various actions carried out for the inclusion of this population group, making it possible to identify the levels of compliance in health, education, accessibility and work. Also noteworthy is the Atlas on torture and ill-treatment, and the Atlas of the human right to water, sanitation and a healthy environment, which provides information on the existence of legal frameworks guaranteeing these rights at different levels of government, strategies and public policies.
