The importance of the promotion of Women’s Human Rights from Public Human Rights Organisms

In Mexico, the majority of the population does not know what their rights are, derived from this problem, the need for all people and in the framework of the commemoration of International Women’s Day, this discussion will discuss the importance of girls and women to know and exercise their rights. There are 58 human rights that are enshrined in our Constitution, which must be defended and demanded. Public servants, within their competencies, have the mandate to promote, protect, guarantee and disseminate human rights. The National Human Rights Commission and the State Commissions are responsible for disseminating, promoting and contributing to the construction of a human rights culture.

This discussion reunites women from different areas of the country, who have dedicated themselves to the dissemination of knowledge on human rights, people who work in education and public administration in the dissemination and training of human rights: in their knowledge, application, their daily exercise, and in the guidance and accompaniment for when these are violated.

The experience of professional women in the management of educational programs on human rights in the country, in areas with a great cultural diversity, based on diverse social constructions, where they share, from the historical journey in the struggle for women’s rights, the emergence of institutions and laws on equality, protection and defense against violence, to the particular situation prevailing in their regions regarding the exercise, violation, policies, defense actions, training and support for women’s human rights, was heard.


The experiences in terms of training in each of their regions and particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, the forms of adaptation, the role of human rights organizations, as well as the challenges and perspectives for women in this international year of women whose objective promotes the strengthening of girls’ and women’s leadership in a year under pandemic. The panelists agreed on the construction of new social relations and perspectives, based on equality, equity, and above all on the exercise and respect for the dignity of the person.
