CNDH initiates an ex officio investigation into the death of two Honduran nationals assaulted in Huimanguillo, Tabasco

Three other people were injured in the attack, which was perpetrated by suspected criminals.

According to media reports, the events occurred when the victims were walking on the train tracks and were surprised by two alleged criminals on board a motorcycle, and when they tried to escape they were attacked with gunshots, resulting in three survivors, who were taken to the Regional Hospital of the municipality of Huimanguillo for medical attention. Later, members of the State Attorney General’s Office arrived to carry out expert work at the scene, and the Ministerial Police initiated an investigation into the case.

People in the context of migration are a highly vulnerable group due to the wide range of risks and abuses they may suffer in their transit through Mexico, making it necessary to establish and implement actions to prevent acts similar to those in the present case in order to safeguard the safety, physical integrity and lives of migrants, so that their human rights, recognized in the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, are respected and protected.

In view of the alleged human rights violations reported, the CNDH initiated an ex officio investigation, since the facts narrated in the journalistic articles have an impact on national public opinion and are of special importance because they affect a vulnerable group such as persons in the context of international migration.
