Fundamental, consolidating a single front of DPOs against human trafficking.

The president of the CNDH inaugurated a series of workshops on human trafficking and exploitation.

Recognizing the participation of the Mexican Federation of Public Human Rights Organizations (FMOPDH), the president of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), Rosario Piedra Ibarra, called for the consolidation of a single front of autonomous public bodies defending human rights so that, together with society, the authorities ensure that the authorities provide effective care, protection and assistance to victims of trafficking in persons, and where appropriate achieve the comprehensive reparation to which they are entitled.

In opening the workshops on Legal and Technical Updating on Trafficking in Persons from the Perspective of Human Rights, given by the Fifth Office of the General Counsel, the head of this Autonomous Body stressed the importance of generating a strategic alliance for the defense of human rights on this issue, since according to data from the World Report 2020 of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, human trafficking in the world continues to affect mainly women and girls, representing 65% of the victims identified globally.

In the framework of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the president of this Autonomous Body said that in many cases the victims are not even recognized and therefore, they are not rescued or cared for; this, he said, generates no sanction for those who commit the crimes of trafficking, and for the victims, lack of access to justice and full reparation of the damage, seriously violating their human rights.
