Strong condemnation of the murder of journalist Abraham Mendoza

Identify those responsible, so that this case does not go unpunished.

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) strongly condemns the murder of journalist Abraham Mendoza Mendoza, who was attacked with a firearm by unknown individuals as he left a gymnasium in the city of Morelia, Michoacán; and expresses its condolences to his relatives, as well as its solidarity with fellow communicators in that state.

According to information provided by the Michoacan State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE), three suspects were arrested by members of the Ministry of Public Security, who were fleeing the site in a vehicle.

In this regard, it is important for the CNDH to determine the causes and those responsible for the murders that take place to the detriment of members of the communication guild, because these are aggressions that not only affect them but also represent an affront to society and a violation of their right to be informed.

The CNDH will closely observe the evolution of the events and the investigations carried out by the competent authorities to clarify the facts and identify those responsible, so that they may be brought to justice and punished as appropriate by law, so that this case does not go unpunished.
