Families of missing persons file complaint before the CNDH for lack of attention at CEAV

Parents reported having developed serious diseases after the disappearance of their family members, for which they request medical attention.

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) received this day a collective complaint filed by family members of missing persons requesting its intervention and protection against alleged acts and omissions of the Executive Commission for Attention to Victims (CEAV).

They pointed out that, in all cases, the CEAV has refused to provide them with medical support with the argument of the supposed inexistence of the causal link between the disappearance of their relatives and the health problems they have developed. In this regard, the Idheas organization expressed that, although scientifically it is not possible to determine with precision the cause of the health problems that afflict the victims, in the face of this uncertainty the pro persona principle must operate in favor of them.

Therefore, it requests the National Commission to issue precautionary measures to guarantee medical attention to the victims, particularly in view of the seriousness and urgency of the case of a mother diagnosed with stage two breast cancer and to convene, immediately and urgently, a working group with the participation of victims, their representatives, experts, doctors and psychologists, as well as public servants from the Ministry of the Interior and the CEAV itself to attend to these and other similar cases.
