Universal access to Covid-19 vaccine

At the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) we maintain our firm commitment to remain vigilant and active so that the Mexican State complies with its constitutional obligations to guarantee, to all people, the right to health, universal and free access, in accordance with the National Policy of Vaccination Against the SARS-CoV-2 Virus, For the Prevention of Covid-19 in Mexico.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the CNDH has focused all its efforts on addressing the complaints and grievances of people whose human rights have been violated, especially the right to universal access to quality and equal health services, after the Ministry of Health and the Government of the Republic published, first the Agreement establishing the preventive measures to be implemented for the mitigation and control of the health risks posed by the SARS-CoV2 virus disease (COVID-19), on March 24, 2020, and then the Agreement declaring the epidemic of disease caused by the SARS-CoV2 virus (COVID-19) as a sanitary emergency due to force majeure, on March 31 of the same year.

As we have pointed out, the authorities of the three levels of government are the first to ensure the conditions that guarantee the right to health of all Mexicans, especially those who are most vulnerable. We know of their commitment and the actions undertaken to mitigate the negative impacts, especially the loss of lives and the economic effects; however, the economic must not come before the lives of people, especially the most vulnerable.
