CNDH Requests Protection for Human Rights Defenders and Migrants in Ciudad Hidalgo, Chiapas

Precautionary measures in light of the harassment they have suffered at the Rodolfo Robles border bridge.

Collective made up of various civil organizations, denounced that National Migration Institute (INM) personnel, municipal police and elements of the National Guard (GN) impeded their work accompanying people in the context of migration, who seek refuge in our country, to the point of harassing them and criminalizing their labor.

Likewise, they specified that on April 26, migration agents stationed in that building assumed a hostile attitude and request the presence of municipal police and the GN, whose elements proceeded to remove and photograph them without consent.

Considering that this situation produces a state of uncertainty and constitutes, in turn, a limitation for the work of human rights defenders, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) requests the aforementioned authorities to grant security to the members of the Observation Collective, and the appropriate facilities, in accordance with the legal framework, so that they can carried out their support labor.

In addition, it establishes the need to provide protection to the migrants who are in that place, in order to avoid risks to their physical integrity and rights.
