Burundi’s Ombudsman condemns terrorists attack in Bujumbura
The Ombudsman of the Republic, Edouard NDUWIMANA said he learned with great indignation of the attack perpetrated Tuesday, May 25, 2021, by terrorists in the town of Bujumbura. He condemns this barbarity and deplores that it occurs at the time when Burundi is hosting the 51st meeting of the UN Permanent Consultative Committee in charge of security issues in Central Africa.

MSF denounces unbearable “ordinary violence” after killing of staff member. A staff member of the Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Tabarre trauma hospital was attacked and struck by a gunshot on his way home from work on the evening of May 25, even though he did not resist his attackers. He was rushed back to the hospital, but he was dead on arrival. A father of three children, he is now one more victim of the chronic violence that is affecting all of Haitian society, which has been increasing for years. MSF mourns his death and denounces the violence.

Long working hours increasing deaths from heart disease and stroke: WHO, ILO. Long working hours led to 745 000 deaths from stroke and ischemic heart disease in 2016, a 29 per cent increase since 2000.
