CNDH calls to change inoperative models, for more just ones

The president of the CNDH, Rosario Piedra Ibarra, inaugurated the Second International Symposium "Strategic Topics in Human Rights from an Ibero-American Perspective.

It is time to “leave behind a state of emergency that, even if it has not been formally declared, limits and suspends rights, and adapt the ombudspersons, to give way to a new reality that places the human person at the center,” proposed the president of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), Rosario Piedra Ibarra, when evoking Ponciano Arriaga, during the opening of the Second International Symposium “Strategic Topics in Human Rights from an Ibero-American Perspective,” held this Friday, June 11.

He explained, “the National Commission is working on establishing collaboration links with strategic actors to generate training, updating and ongoing training in human rights; since education in this area is a fundamental pillar for the protection and defence of dignity; priority for comprehensive care for victims, and a social mechanism to prevent and avoid violence and indispensable to consolidate the Constitutional and Democratic State of Law”.

Likewise, he said, “the meeting will serve as a space for organization and a comparative framework for the discussion and implementation of innovative policies, programs and projects in human rights, from the international to the local level, and is aimed at human rights defenders, civil organizations, community groups, professionals, students, activists and promoters, as well as public servants.”
