CNDH urges to investigate and prosecute aggressions against journalists during the #8M2021 protest march.

Exhortation to respect the effective practice of the right to freedom of expression

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) makes an urgent call to the authorities of Mexico City to investigate and punish those responsible for the aggressions committed yesterday against representatives of the media, in the framework of the mobilizations for International Women’s Day.

As a result of the continuous aggressions against journalists and communicators, the NHRC urges all federal, state and municipal authorities to take the necessary measures to ensure the full exercise of freedom of expression, press and access to information, as well as to provide optimal conditions so that the work of journalists is not affected directly or indirectly.

For this National Organization is extremely important to recognize the relevance of the work that journalists continue to face in the context of violence in the country, the authorities of the three levels of government recognize the relevance of the work they do for the benefit of society, with the purpose of strengthening a culture of respect for their human rights.
