Protect the internal population of CEFERESO 14 in Durango.

Inmates reported being victims of physical aggression, mistreatment, dispossession of belongings, isolation and lack of access to food and drinking water.

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) asked the head of the Decentralized Administrative Body for Prevention and Social Rehabilitation (OADPRS) to adopt the necessary and sufficient precautionary measures in order to safeguard the psychophysical integrity of persons deprived of liberty held at the Federal Center for Social Rehabilitation (CEFERESO) No. 14 in Gómez Palacio, Durango.

In this regard, the CNDH has followed up on the complaints in a timely manner, conducting brigades to investigate and deal with the aforementioned cases in that federal center in recent days. However, yesterday, July 14, 2021, relatives of persons deprived of liberty informed staff of this Commission that ill-treatment of some persons deprived of liberty continues, which led to the request for such precautionary measures.

Likewise, the authorities in charge of cefereso were urged to immediately take action to guarantee, restore and maintain order and peace through the conclusion of dialogue, emphasizing that they must act in accordance with the corresponding protocols of attention, avoiding the use of force or other acts that violate the dignity and human rights of persons deprived of liberty in that center.
